Best of Four gives every player one extra card. You are dealt four cards and choose the best three to make your Teen Patti hand. With more choices, strong hands appear more often and decisions become more interesting.
How Best of Four Works
- Each player puts in the boot and receives four cards face down.
- Betting works as in classic Teen Patti: you can play blind or seen.
- At the show, each player picks any three of their four cards to form a hand.
- Hands are compared using the normal Teen Patti hand rankings.
Discard Styles
| Style | When you drop the fourth card |
|---|---|
| Choose at show | Keep all four and choose the best three only at the show (most common) |
| Early discard | Seen players discard one card face down after the first betting round |
| Open discard | The discarded card is shown to the table, giving others information |
Examples
- 9♠ 9♥ 9♦ 2♣ → keep 9-9-9 → Trail of 9s
- Q♥ J♥ 10♥ Q♠ → keep Q♥ J♥ 10♥ → Pure Sequence (stronger than a Pair of Queens)
- K♣ 8♣ 3♣ K♦ → keep K♣ 8♣ 3♣ → Color, which beats the Pair of Kings
How the Extra Card Changes the Odds
With four cards there are four possible three-card hands to choose from, so every hand category becomes more likely. A Pair, which wins many classic shows, is often not enough in Best of Four. Expect more Colors, Sequences and Trails at the show.
Strategy Tips
- Look for overlapping hands. Four cards of one suit or four connected cards give you several strong options.
- Raise your standards: fold weak Pairs more often than in classic Teen Patti.
- In open-discard games, watch what others throw away; it reveals what they are keeping.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use all four cards?
No. A Teen Patti hand is always exactly three cards.
Is Best of Four the same as “4 Card Teen Patti”?
Yes, both names describe the same idea. Some apps and groups add extra rules, so confirm them first.
